Technician and General Amateur Radio License Classes
Beginning Tuesday, February 6, 5:00pm – 6:30pm. at the Homer Public Library conference room. This will be an introduction to the hobby of amateur radio and will explain how the classes and test sessions are conducted.

- Saturday, May 5, 2018, 12:30pm – 3:30pm
- Testing Session: Saturday, May 12, 2018, 12pm – 3pm
Free study material will be available to students attending the class or you may purchase study guides and manuals through online sources such as Amazon or other online suppliers. More details about study materials and how to obtain it will be discussed at the meeting.
Classes are held at the Homer Public Library conference room. Any schedule changes will be posted to this site and on the Homer Public Library web site.
There will be a total of 8 class sessions and 1 test session. This is a guided self-study class and attendance is not mandatory. You may attend as many or as few sessions as you like. However, those who attend class have a higher passing rate then those who don’t attend classes.
Testing session take place in December at the end of the Fall license class sessions and in May at the end of the Spring license class sessions. Please check back for any changes in the testing dates.
Classes are free and open to the public.

Please come early and bring a photo ID. You will be required to fill out paperwork prior to taking your test which will require either a Social Security Number or an FRN#
HINT: “You can get a FRN# from the FCC website, that way you don’t need to use your SS# for the testing session”

If you are upgrading your license you will need to bring a copy of your ham license which you can print from the FCC web site online.
You may bring a calculator but you will not be allowed to use the calculator on your cell phone. Please silence your phone and put away during the testing. You will not be allowed to leave the room until your test has been turned in so take a smoke or bathroom break prior to starting the test. No talking and please be respectful of others taking the test. Leave the testing room when you finish but stay inside the library so we can give you the results of the test. If you pass we encourage you to try for the next license class. The test is free and no one will know your results. If you miss it by a few, you can retake the test using a new test packet. The next testing sessions will not be given until May of 2017.
